Ha, it will never happen to me, right? Well, it happened. Not only to us.
One by one, it feels like none of our friends escaped this sophisticated new disease. The big-bad burnt-out. You are not officially sick. So, there is no official cure for this.
All of these friends have different jobs and interests, but they all have 2 things in common:
As no one knows us better than ourselves, we thought that changing the whole lifestyle could be the right “cure”... Speaking of which… I am going to play myself the nice album “Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me” by “The Cure”, while I am writing this.

Ok, that’s nice…
So… now what? How do we go about changing the whole lifestyle? Oh, wow. Look at these guys on Youtube. They are actually living on their sailing boats. How cool is that? Want to have a go at it? Hell yeah!
We got the boat. Big enough for 2, fat, old boat. She can cross oceans for you.
Learnt how good it feels not being on a solid piece of land, where everybody else is. More on that later.
But we also moved to Greece.
All while trying to find the perfect spot in between Spain, Greece and Cyprus. We opened businesses here and there to understand where we would best fit in.
It was always Greece. I wish we had known that from the beginning. It feels a bit of a ridiculously long and expensive journey.
It is funny. How life serves you courses you have not ordered.
All we (initially) wanted was to live on the boat.
That happened. For a while.
No more clothes to wash (as you don’t have to wear much).
A lot of weather talk.
No more traffic noise. But some storms.
Life was perfect.
Very good business there. But for us, it is not only about the business. It was nice and sunny. And we ate a lot of sea food. We lived in some places on the Costa Blanca and got a feel of it.
But in reality all we could think about was how to get on the boat faster.
Sometimes too hot, sometimes too dusty, sometimes too close to the city. Not really for us.
A new plan. A new life. In Greece.
We are in Greece (most of the year).
There are some really cool things about living in Greece. For example:
Weird place. These people are (still) humans.
These people smile when they see you. They also say hi. Hi AND a smile.
Sometimes, they even give you free stuff. Where in Europe does this happen? This is the way I react each time we receive little gifts, such as eggs, horta, meat, jams, beers.
Greece is advertised as a place in the sun. Yes, true for most months. Yes, true for some places.
Some of our coldest winters were in Greece. Same thing in Spain. I will explain later on the blog.
This beach in the summer:
The same spot, November. They are all gone.
I love driving with a constant sea view, rather than driving comfortably on a flat road with no view.
Please bring your Tesla & Ferrari. You can park it here. For free. For ever.
We love Greece and we spend most of the year here. But also travelling between Spain and Cyprus whenever business calls.
Greece is, for us, the perfect place to be on a daily basis. Is the closest to our souls and values.
We will (probably) still be somewhere in and out of Greece.
You could stop right here and go on about your day.
Or, if you want more inspiration… Go on. Choose something that winks at you.
This is where we blog on living in Greece as foreigners. It’s a nice place with lots of images. Very opinionated. Extremely subjective.
At the moment we only have one nice holiday home to show you and it is in Nafplion area. It’s a great place to be if you want to visit the ancient sites of Peloponnese.
Here is a nice one. A villa for sale in Lefkada Greece, with those crazy sea views and swimming pool – on a large 5.200 sqm plot. It is located on the East Coast of Lefkada, in Nikiana, close to Nidri and Lefkada Town.
